About Cate and Suzanne

Friends Cate and Suzanne met while working together at an investment consulting firm in San Francisco where they developed the idea of opening a "boutique outlet" during coffee breaks.

"As avid shoppers, we were already familiar with the local boutiques and knew all of the great designers they carried. We had an idea to open a boutique outlet that would sell only discounted designer clothes from these upscale boutiques.

Encouraged by the positive response, we left our investment jobs and started to search for the perfect location. We found it on Union Street in the living room of a converted Victorian home.

We opened My Roommate's Closet in January 2004. We now work with over 25 upscale boutiques in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City.

Where are you located?

My Roommate's Closet moved in May 2005 to 3044 Fillmore Street at Union Street in San Francisco.

What do you carry?

We carry high end women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, bags and accessories from upscale boutiques — all starting at half off the original retail price.

Where do you get your merchandise?

We work with about 25 upscale boutiques throughout California — primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles — and New York City.

When do you get new merchandise?

We get new items weekly and have them displayed by the weekend.

Do you ever have sales?

Yes, several times a year you can find items further discounted up to 70% off the original retail price. Join our mailing list to be notified of our sales and other events.

What payments do you accept?

You can pay with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash and checks.

What sizes do you carry?

We regularly carry sizes 0-12.

We offer a wide variety of styles and designers. From play clothes to professional wear, there is always something for everyone in My Roommate's Closet.

Are you a consignment shop?

All the merchandise we carry is new and never worn.
